1950s EASY-POP Songs and Singers...on the verge of Rock 'n Roll
The Wayward Wind recorded by Gogi Grant introduced April 28, 1956
Written by Herb Newman & Stan Lebowsky
Orchestra conducted by Buddy Bregman
This haunting, philosophical 50s lyrical ballad was a beguiling anthem for the restless. Buddy Bregman created an ethereal arrangement for jazz/pop singer Gogi Grant, Billboard magazine’s Most Popular Female vocalist in 1956. This next-of-kin to the Wayward Wind favorite song stayed on the charts for more than half of 1956.
Quintessential Fifties lyric:
"A restless wind that yearns to wander and he was born the next of kin, the next of kin to the wayward wind"
