1950s EASY-POP Songs and Singers...on the verge of Rock 'n Roll
Miss Toni Fisher (born February 12, 1931)
- Famous EASY-POP hit single during the 50s: The Big Hurt 1959
This was the only top-ten hit recording for Miss Toni Fisher.
Recording career with hits on the charts: 1959 - 1962 Record Label: Signet
Miss Toni Fisher (as she was always billed) was born in Los Angeles and had three recordings that made the Billboard top 100 charts. Her only major hit song was The Big Hurt in 1959. Producer Wayne Shanklin, her collaborative partner, gave the arrangement a unique and identifiable, phase shift effect, creating a swirling, whooshing sound. It was on the top seller charts for almost four months. She also recorded How Deep Is The Ocean in 1960. While there were three top-ten versions of this Irving Berlin classic in 1932, Toni Fisherís record did not fare as well with itís best showing as #93 on the charts. The final recording charted by Toni Fisher and released on Big Top records in 1962 was West of the Wall, the sad story of lovers separated by the infamous Berlin Wall. It barely placed in the top 40.
