1950s EASY-POP Songs and Singers...on the verge of Rock 'n Roll
I'm Walking Behind You recorded by Eddie Fisher introduced May 9, 1953
Written by Billy Reid
Orchestra conducted by Hugo Winterhalter
Eddie Fisher brought his trademark zest to this recording of the British song Iím Walking Behind You (on your wedding day) with soprano Sally Sweetland. Frank Sinatra also recorded a hit version of this wedding-of-a-girlfriend song. An even more emotional Eddie Fisher had a second #1 hit in 1953 with Oh! My Pa-Pa, an unusual tribute since he and his father were not close.
Quintessential Fifties lyric:
"If things go wrong dear and fate is unkind, look over your shoulder, I'm walking behind"
