Crying in the Chapel was written in 1953 by Artie Glenn for his high-school son, Darrell Glenn, to record and it became a local hit in Knoxville, Tennessee. The top-ten version by June Valli, who released records all during the fifties, was her most memorable recording. Elvis Presley had a top-ten hit with Crying in the Chapel in 1965.
